Scythe Iori Top Down Quiet CPU Cooler, SCIOR-1000

Introducing the new, compact Scythe Iori CPU cooler. The ideal cooler for use in smaller PC cases and HTPCs where space is at a premium.

Iori, a Japanese word implying a small, modest house or a little mountain hut providing shelter; being compact and simple. That is exactly what the Iori is all about - simplicity but with a functional design in a compact size making this cooler ideal for use in smaller PC cases and HTPCs.

Thanks to the fitted 100mm PWM fan (instead of a 92mm fan) improved airflow and performance have been made possible at a much lower noise levels than with a smaller fan. The Iori’s top-flow design allows it to keep the processor cool at all times, preventing any risks of overheating and the downward airflow not only cools the CPU but also the motherboard components around it.

100mm PWM Fan

Coolers of this size are usually fitted with a 92mm fan but the included 100mm fan of the Iori can work at slower quieter speeds while still maintaining the airflow necessary to keep the processor cool. The slower fan leads to less turbulence and hence the fan is quieter in operation. In addition, the relatively large diameter of the fan contributes to a wider area of fins being cooled and this in turn leads to improved cooling performance.

New Generation Clip System

The new mounting system for the Iori was developed with a simple fitting procedure and high compatibility in mind. The light weight of the heatsink allows the advantage of push-pin mounting when applying on Intel sockets. The installation can be done fast and easy without the need to remove the motherboard from the case.

Top-Flow Design

The generated airflow will not stop at the fins of the Iori. It will further cool the surrounding components such as chipset, memory and voltage regulator modules. This prevents hotspots forming resulting in a longer lifespan of the components and the motherboard.

Compact Size

One major criteria when designing this cooler was to make it compact but powerful at the same time. The maximum height of the heatsink (including the fan) is a mere 117mm, with a width of only 107mm. These measurements guarantee that the Iori will fit in all but the smallest cases.

Improved Hardware Compatibility

The Iori cooler can be fitted facing one of two ways on an AMD board or in one of four ways on an Intel board and this flexibility allows the usage of memory modules with tall heatsinks as the fins and heat-pipes can be rotated out of the way or the memory modules.
