Zalman ZM-GM1 Laser Gaming Mouse

Introducing Zalman’s new gaming mouse, the ZM-GM1 which is their first fully configurable gaming mouse, comfortably styled and finished in an attractive black and titanium colour scheme with blue LED lighting

The Zalman ZM-GM1 is Zalman’s first professional wired gaming mouse and uses the AVAGO 9500 LaserStream gaming sensor for high accuracy. Compared to the last generation of LaserStream gaming sensors, the ADNS-9500 offers dramatic improvements in high speed motion detection. These are key performance parameters required when designing a professional gaming mouse. In addition, the resolution has also been increased to allow for high precision tracking and cursor placement.

Features

  1. Incorporates the Avago 9500 LaserStream gaming sensor
  2. DPI adjustable from 800 to 6000
  3. Adjustable weight tuning system

The ZM-GM1 sports blue LED lighting as do most gaming mice . However, knowing that not everyone likes LED lighting on their mice, Zalman have included an option to lower the brightness or even turn it off completely from the control panel.

Durable Teflon pads

The underside of the mouse uses five ultra-durable Teflon pads to help the mouse glide smoothly on all mouse mats. For the very best result we would recommend one of our Artisan mouse mats for the ultimate gaming experience.

Quickly change DPI

Two buttons on the top of the mouse allow for quickly changing the DPI settings, anywhere between 800 and 6000 DPI.

Adjustable weight system

Many gamers will recognise the importance of a weights system, one that helps tailor the mouse to feel perfect in use, not too light yet not too heavy, ideal for prolonged gaming sessions. The ZM-GM1 is supplied with nine individual weights so that the mouse can be made to feel perfect for everyone.

Fully Configurable

As with all good gaming mice, you can fully customise all seven buttons on the mouse and even the LED lighting thanks to Zalman’s software control panel. This allows all gamers the opportunity to fully customise the gaming mouse to their unique style of play.

Almost perfect... (almost)

,

This is a great mouse. Probably the best I’ve ever used. I was so sick of my wireless Logitech mouse running out of batteries. Wireless mice always brag that you can get up to 6 months battery life but you really only ever get about 3 weeks of serious use out of them.. this is both a pain in the way of having to buy batteries, and I know I don’t even have to mention what it’s like when your mouse gets sluggish or runs out of power at a crucial moment. Or when you can’t find a single battery in your entire house and you’re forced to pull one out of the TV remote or something.

Anyway, this mouse is incredible. Not only is it beautiful and it glows softly which almost gives a peaceful feeling just looking at it. The mouse have 5 extra buttons than a normal 2-3 button mouse.

The plus and minus buttons on it seem to adjust the DPI in sets of 25%. i.e 25% - 50% - 75% - 100% sensitivity etc. 100% being the max 1600dpi which is insane. I find myself liking, for games like WoW around 800 or so. Because it’s easy to hit the wrong skill etc. Lower and you feel like you’re too ‘heavy’ and it puts you off using certain skills.

The weight of this mouse seems really good just out of the box. I am yet to mess around with the weight because I think I am happy with the default weight at the moment. Though you do get extra weights with it like they say.

The mouse works fine without the included mini driver-cd. But it’s best of course to install the mouse and bind the extra buttons to whatever you want. For example I bound the 2 buttons on the side to open My Computer and Google Chrome. Meaning I can be extremely lazy XD!!

The only couple of issues I have, which I hope won’t matter in the long run..

  1. The mouse is EXTREMELY LOUD. This is without a doubt the loudest mouse I have ever used and is without a doubt much more noticeably louder than a regular mouse. The left click is approximately ~58dB and the right click is approximately ~54dB when compared to my old cheap wireless Logitech’s ~49dB & ~50dB respectively.

  2. The middle mousewheel button has no ‘left and right buttons’ just a ‘left’ button. You can either click the mousewheel in, like any mouse. Or push the mousewheel to the left. There is no push button right. Which means you can’t scroll left and right on a webpage like I am used to with other mice.

  3. This mouse is huge. I have large hands but this will take a LOT of getting used to.
