Zaward Sylphee Temperature Controlled Dual Fan CPU Cooler
We are proud to introduce something a little different to the CPU cooling market: the Zaward Sylphee, (pronounced “sill-fee”). What makes this cooler different are not only its looks, its two temperature-controlled radial fans which run independently from each other. These fans produce a totally different airflow direction to ordinary axial fans.
Instead of the airflow being blown in a particular direction, radial fans are multi-directional. This means that the airflow from each fan blows outwards, travelling past the heatsink’s aluminium fins as it goes. Another benefit to this type of airflow is that surplus air assists in the cooling of components which are adjacent to the processor. This is especially desirable if you use a fanless graphics card where the heatsink is mounted at the rear of the card. Fanless power supplies also benefit from this extra airflow.
Each radial fan also incorporates a thermistor which regulates the speed of the fan depending on the temperature of the airflow around the heatsink. As the CPU temperature increases, so does the air temperature around the thermistor which in turn increases the fan speed. This automatic regulation system gives you peace of mind that when things warm up inside the PC, the fan responds by increasing the airflow, keeping temperatures as low as possible whilst not making unnecessary noise.
The two integrated heatpipes are designed to transfer heat quickly away from the base of the CPU heatsink to the top part of the cooler. Each fan has its own 3-pin fan header. It’s no problem if you have no spare 3-pin fan headers for the second fan on your motherboard, because the Sylphee is supplied with a 3-pin fan splitter which allows you to connect both fans to one motherboard fan header.
Compatibility
The Sylphee is compatible with the most popular socket types. Intel’s LGA775 and socket 478 along with AMD’s socket AM2, 754, 939 and 940 are all supported. Because of its modest size, there are no known clearance compatibility issues, so the cooler should fit any motherboard.
Features
- Dual embedded silent fans
- Dual high performance heat pipes
- Auto fan speed controlled by thermistors
- Extremely quiet fans from 18 dBA, intake air flow from both sides
- Airflow blows multi-directionally and cools surrounding components
Review
Benchmarkreviews.com
If anything, the Sylphee is a functional wonder. It still amazes me that it was able to match the performance of far larger coolers while making nearly no noise at all. That is what functionality should be, so I hope others take note.
