Scythe Kama Cross CPU Cooler

The Kama Cross is a strange looking CPU cooler. Scythe call this design “X Structure” and they claim that not only does it cool the CPU but it also cools surrounding components without any loss of airflow. Given the fact that the supplied 100mm fan blows air directly down towards the CPU and that the aluminium fins are designed in such a way to utilise this airflow and move it towards the motherboard components, you can certainly see why Scythe make this claim.

If the airflow or noise level supplied by the 100mm fan is not to your liking, then it is possible to exchange it with any 25mm thick 120mm fan. Scythe are kind enough to provide 120mm fan mounting holes on the cooler for such a scenario.

The Kama Cross uses a 3-pin (not a 4-pin PWM) fan so there is no default speed control and this makes it an ideal choice for use with older processors (such as 478, AM2 939). If however you prefer to have some control over the fan speed then we would recommend that you use a Zalman FANMATE 2 or similar fan controller, which will allow you to set your own balance between cooling and noise. Many processors simply won’t need the fan running at full speed in order to keep them cool.
