Silentmaxx Fanless-Pro 503W PSU
| Fanless-Pro 503W PSU [Discontinued] | £120.00 |
And now for something completely different! For many years, customers have been asking for power supplies which are completely silent - with no fan whatsoever. Of course this is an extremely difficult challenge from a technical/cooling point of view. But now we are privileged to bring to market a range of power supplies that noise-wise, really are "as good as it gets"! Introducing the Silentmaxx Fanless-Pro 503W.

This power supply has been developed and built in Germany using all of Silentmaxx's expertise in chassis design and electronics. The chassis has been developed from scratch with noise elimination as the primary design goal. We are delighted to say that this is achieved with flying colours!
Fanless-Pro 503W
The Fanless-Pro 503W power supply (pictured above) is 36 mm longer than a standard power supply. This should not cause any problems for customers looking to use this power supply in their tower case. The Fanless-Pro 503W fits both of our AcoustiCases without any problems, but please do make sure that you have space at the rear of your current power supply to accommodate the extra length.
The second difference is that the Fanless-Pro 503W is not fanless! You may think that this must be some kind of strange German marketing technique, but please let us explain. The power supply has a built-in top quality rubber mounted 80 mm fan (Papst 8412 NGLV), which is rated at a maximum noise level of only 12 dBA! It is also possible to monitor the speed of the fan by plugging the PSU 3-pin fan connector into a spare fan header on your motherboard, but please note this does not power the fan; it only provides a means of monitoring the fan speed. Furthermore, in order to control the fan behaviour, there is a 'mode switch' on the rear of the unit. This switch has three settings, as described below.
Mode 1 (bottom position)
The fan rotates at power on, and its speed will increase as the internal temperature of the power supply increases. If the temperature reaches 50°C; the fan will run at full speed until it drops below 50°C. It is highly unlikely you will need to use this setting, although you will need it if you expect to use most or all of the 503W! This switch position may be a good choice for servers.
Mode 2 (centre position)
This is the fanless mode. Sit back and enjoy the silence! This mode is probably the best choice for customers who wish to use this power supply in their 'non power hungry' PC and value complete silence very highly.
Mode 3 (top position)
The fan starts to rotate when the internal temperature of the power supply reaches 60°C and then runs until the temperature drops below 40°C, which is when the fan stops. This is the safest mode, and can give the best of both worlds (safety against noise). The power supply will run its fan only if it absolutely needs to!

Installation considerations
Fanless power supplies can become very warm. With this in mind, we recommend that you maintain good airflow through your PC system and make sure there is plenty of open space around the back of the machine.
