Gelid Solutions Tranquillo Rev.2 Quiet CPU Cooler with PWM Fan
The tower CPU Cooler Tranquillo uses four power heat pipes and a special heat pipe constellation to achieve the best heat transfer from CPU core to the aluminium fins in its class. After precise software simulation and calculation during the development stage, a unique heatsink shape was created to lower air flow resistance as much as possible.

The cooler is supplied with a very quiet 120mm fan. It features intelligent Gelid PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) control which has been chosen to make this heatsink more desirable. The fan blades are optimised to guarantee high airflow while running quietly. The intelligent Gelid PWM curve keeps the fan quiet when the system is idling or under low load but the fan speed will increase when additional cooling is needed. The multi-award winning high performance GC-2 thermal compound is also included in the package - making it a complete package to cool virtually any desktop CPU.
Additionally mounting clips for AMD FM1, AM2, AM2+, AM3 and for Intel 775, 1366 and the latest 1156 sockets, providing compatibility with Intel LGA775, Core i5 and Core i7 motherboards are all included. The cooler is RoHS and WEEE conforming and carries a five year warranty.

The acoustic performance was brilliant! At 100% fan speed, the cooler was hardly noticeable above our case fans and it was most certainly not distracting. The 1500 RPM PWM fan that Gelid use is a good compromise between performance and quietness.

The Tranquillo made almost no noise at all. We had to place our ears literally in the case itself in order to hear anything! Surprisingly, virtual silence didn’t come at the cost of thermal performance either!

BIG!
Great cooler but it is big! I fitted the CPU and cooler to the mobo before fitting it in the case and assembly was quite easy but I think it would be very fiddly if you tried it after. My case is 20cm wide and it only just fits. Used it over an AMD FX4100 on an Asus M5A99X Evo board with 2 x 4Gb Corsair Vengeance memory. You cannot use the 1st mem slot if your mem has cooling fins (as previously mentioned), but with the Asus board I used slots 2 & 4 as recommended and the cooler fan draws air nicely over the Vengeance cooling fins.
Have to congratulate Quietpc on excellent service.

Temps for i5-2500K @ 4.4Ghz / 1.35V idle ~33C prime95 ~64C with fan set to 1100 rpm in bios (never needs to spin up higher)
Breeze to install
Really good CPU cooler, replaced my stock AMD am3 cooler.
Fitting was easy thanks to my Fractal Design Arc Mini case (also from Quiet PC) which enables access without removing the motherboard, I’ve got standard ram with the heat-sinks over them and the wire fan bracket touches them only just but I can move it if I wanted to as the fan has a 1cm clearance you can move it to be slightly above or below the top of the CPU heatsink.
Great cooling, frustrating to install.
The improvement in cooling performance over the stock Intel cooler cannot be argued with. There was only a small drop in idle temp but a massive 30 degree drop under full load. It is a large heatsink so bear that in mind if your motherboard has chipset and mosfet heatsinks or if you have large heatsinks on your ram. Fitting the heatsink to the motherboard is a breeze but fitting the fan with its fiddly retention wires will try your patience. I do not recommend this for my motherboard the GA-P55-UD5 or for use with G.Skill Ripjaw ram unless you have the patience of a saint.
