Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev2 Quiet CPU Cooler

High Performance CPU Cooler for Intel and AMD

The Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 is the upgraded version of the renowned Freezer 7 Pro. With the flexible mounting design, this version is compatible with the Intel Core i7, Core i5, as well as AMD Socket AM3. Featuring an ultra quiet 92mm fan and six heatpipes, the Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 is one of the most efficient and quiet CPU coolers for power users.

Features

  1. Ultra quiet 92mm PWM fan
  2. 6 heatpipes and 42 fins for efficient heat dissipation
  3. Patented vibration absorption to eliminate buzzing sounds
  4. Pre-applied ARCTIC MX-2
  5. Easy installation
  6. Compatible with Intel LGA1366/1155/1156/775 and AMD FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2/939/940/754

Extremely Cool

The unique heatsink design consists of 42 fins which significantly increase the heat dissipation area to distribute massive amounts of heat faster and more efficiently. Featuring a 92mm PWM fan, six heatpipes and pre-applied ARCTIC MX-2 thermal paste, the Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 offers performance far beyond stock coolers and achieves 130 watts cooling capacity, making it one of the most efficient CPU coolers available.

Extremely Quiet

The Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 is extremely quiet. Thanks to its low noise impeller and patented fan holder, the 92mm fan is almost inaudible. Controlled by a PWM signal, the fan runs at just the minimum necessary speed for lowest noise level and optimum cooling capacity. The Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 generates only 0.8 Sone at 2,500 rpm which is much quieter than standard coolers and many other after market coolers.

Easy Installation

The unique mounting system is very user-friendly. The whole installation can be done in a few minutes. This is a total peace of mind solution for both Intel and AMD users.

Review

  • Expert Reviews

We were impressed by how quiet the Freezer 7 Pro was. When the processor was idle, its temperature didn’t rise above 25C and the fan ran at a low speed of 548rpm. However, when the processor was under load its temperature rose to a high 48C while the fan lounged at a leisurely 1,361rpm.

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is a good cooler and is good value too at £20. Easier to fit fans that can keep a processor running even cooler are available for a little more cash though.

Great Job QuietPC

,

My wife’s PC was serviced last year and ever since then the CPU fan was running very loud ( some 64db). One phone call to Awesome Andy in Tech Support confirmed that this fan would solve her noise issues and so I ordered the part. It arrived next day, and was very simple to fit. (Note: you MAY have to remove the motherboard from the case if you have a backing plate, which I did. Always make note of where any wires came from, and in what pin positions. Camera phones - wonderful things!) The whole process took less than 10 minutes and now i cannot even hear her PC. For the money, this is an excellent fan, and a great result. Thank you Quiet PC!

Nice cooler for the price.

,

A really good cooler for the price, the fitting instructions are not the best but if you take your time it’s fairly easy (Intel fitting). Would not hesitate to buy another.

Distinctly meh and not silent.

,

Working with a Phenom 940 Deneb this is far from silent. Even at modest loads I can hear the fan. If you are used to some old screamer of a cooler than maybe this is an improvement but don’t expect silence. Same sort of noise you used to get out of XBox360 before MS was forced to sort their fans out.

The mounting is far too fiddly. You will have to fit a couple of extension brackets on the base spring and then seat the whole on your CPU. As the cooler is so big that means getting your fingers underneath the cooler in order to exert the considerable force needed to get the spring to engage. These extension wings aren’t shown in the picture above and are attached by a couple of screws. Getting access to the screws will require moving the fan first and a long (but small bite) screw driver.

It does keep the CPU cool though with zero load temperatures of around 46C. You will need to turn the game volume up to drown out the fan when it kicks it above 52Cish.

All in it’s probably better than a stock fan although the last HP i5 I commissioned was a lot quieter than this fresh from the box.

Worth £20 but don’t expect miracles.

Cool and quiet

,

This CPU cooler comfortably keeps my Intel i5-2400 between low thirties and mid-forties (degrees Celsius) while remaining practically inaudible. And that’s with the pre-applied thermal paste. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Fiddly, but great

,

Dropped my temps by massive amount and really cut down the fan noise. Installation was fiddly on an AMD board (seating the clamps is a pain, but worth the effort).

Watch for heatsink back plate

,

Just finished installing this product. Very quiet, which is what was desired, and with a small decrease in temperatures.

One issue for me with installation was the presence of the original heatsink back plate which is installed underneath the motherboard. Its purpose is to support the weight of the heatsink without putting any strain on the motherboard PCB. The fittings that came with the cooler don’t fit into the screw holes for the back plate so you may need to source appropriate screws to install this cooler (a slight hassle for me but the two AMD screws that came with the kit worked fine so I only needed to find two more screws). Be warned that on the Internet you may be advised to lever the back plate off with a hair dryer and a screw driver —- I think that you would likely damage your mother board.

Brilliant but annoying to install

,

I am really happy with the noise levels from this, it’s really very good and is giving me very good temps. I found it very tricky to fit on an AMD board for some reason. The clamps are fiddly and instructions pretty rubbish. I found it easier in the end to screw on both clamps on the tightest possible screw holes then using some considerable force to attach these to the board. Overall a very good product and excellent value and great service from quiet pc.

Does exactly what it says on the tin

,

I bought this to replace the stock CPU cooler that came with my PC. What a difference! Runs cooler, and makes far less noise while doing it. It does take up a lot of room, think of a big cube sitting over the top of your CPU. But it’s so quiet, I had to shine a torch through one of the air vents to see if the fan was turning! Definitely a good bit of equipment, if your PC is too noisy this is the first thing I would install.

Very pleased

,

Totally happy with the product it’s self. I’ve had a huge drop in both noise and heat from my processor. My only negative comment is that now the rest of my noisy computer is bothering me…. :)

Peace and quiet at last.

,

Was desperate for a quiet fan as my old Intel D34223-002 was so loud the noise had become unbearable. Emailed Andy at Quiet PC and got a reply within a couple of hours. Went with his recommendation for the A/C Freezer 7 Pro Rev2 and it arrived within 2 days.

Even for a complete novice at computer component swapping, fitting was reasonably straightforward (onto an Intel 775 socket) though the instructions are in pictures only. Would have benefited from written instructions also.

The fan comes complete with pre-applied paste, though I did also order some Arctic Silver thermal paste after reading reviews and used that instead (after cleaning paste from cpu and new fan with Arcticlean).

End result: noise has been dramatically reduced. Fan speed has dropped from 2100 to 1500rpm. Cpu temperature has dropped from a 47 to 44 with other temps dropping by a similar amount.

Could have purchased it cheaper elsewhere, but good customer service means Quiet PC gets my business.

Poor quality fan.

,

The heatsink appears to be good quality and overall this heatsink gives lower temperatures and lower noise than my stock cooler, but the fan makes intermittent scratching noises, which seem to come from the bearings. I will have to replace the fan.

Also in the instructions Arctic Cooling claim that if the product is re-used it needs to be used only with Arctic Cooling thermal paste because it’s the only paste that provides optimum performance in combination with the surface of their heatsinks. That is a lie. This heatsink base has a polished copper surface just like most coolers. That is anti-competitive behaviour and for lying to their customers they lose another star.

Installation could be easier...

,

Very cheap and effective compared to other coolers, but the installation is a bit of a pain. The grommets and wedges that need to be pushed through the motherboard are small and take a large amount of force, and I wasn’t exactly comfortable with screwing the heatsink onto the bracket/cpu - I just can’t tell if I was overloading the cpu or it was the bracket making the creaking sounds…

But after installation it works fine. I’m still waiting for the MX-2 paste to ‘bed’ in, but on first use my temp sat at 44 degrees for an i5-750 at full load…

I can’t comment on the noise as its drowned out by a GTS250 at the moment ;)

Fantastic

,

I was worried at first because the base is smaller than the CPU surface (AMD Phenom) but it was fine - it just fits in the middle with a small gap around the edges. The AMD fitting is really easy - attach the flexible grips loosely and then tighten them when in place. I couldn’t believe how easy it was after the grunting and groaning to put on other fans with those annoying fixed grips.

I have a tower case and thought sideways-mounting it would make it too heavy, but it is a lot lighter than I thought and is fine.

Check the space next to your RAM though - if you have fancy RAM with teeth on the top, or really wide heat sinks, it might not fit (you could move your RAM to slots 3 and 4 though).

As another reviewer has said, it is so quiet I can now hear my case fans! Have literally just ordered 2 Noctua NF-S12B FLX 120mm case fans. Hopefully, all I’ll hear next is my breathing!

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev2

Silence ! at last! Bit of a tight fit against my memory.

Cheap, quiet and effective.

,

My i5-750 is 10[deg] cooler when idle and a whole lot quieter when active. Installation is easy enough, but make sure that you have enough room for the fan mounting. A very effective cooler at any price, and for £20 you can’t go wrong.

Overheating solved.

,

I bought this cooler because my CPU would maintain temperatures of up to 100 degrees while playing games, or watching movies - this would obviously lead to a shut down, and roughly 5 minutes of blind rage. This WAS with a stock cooler and stock paste, but still, something drastic needed to be done.

I installed this cooler about an hour ago, and already I’ve noticed a difference of about 20 degrees idle, and when I play games it will never stray above 50, even after hours. Amazing value, easy (enough) to install and effective. Haven’t got a bad word to say about it, highly recommended.

I’d also like to thank Quietpc, order was placed on Friday, it arrived on Monday - I have another order with another (anonymous :p) website for a MUCH smaller package and it has yet to arrive - 10 days after the order was placed. It’s always good to see a company that actually delivers, in both senses of the word. Thanks, and I’ll be shopping here again.

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev2 Quiet CPU Cooler

,

I was a bit nervous about installing this as I had not tried such a significant modification before. Instructions were really clear and the job was done in 10 minutes. The reduction in sound compared to the standard Intel cooler was unbelievable. Running “SpeedFan” shows a dramatic drop in the running temperature of the CPU since modification completed. Much recommended but make sure you have plenty of room around your CPU as it is very big!

AMAZING..!!!

,

Just like is younger brother (rev.1) this cooler is awesome… it reduced temps by 12c with stock thermal paste and is DEAD silent… you can over-clock with this beast - I didn’t even use my Artic5 Silver Paste either which would have brought temps down another 4-5c… didn’t need too…

for under £20 this is a must… it IS a large HSF and should only be used in a decent sized case (mATX / ATX / MidATX) not for small mediacenters…

this is the cheapest fan you can get that does the job 100% (SILENT / COOLER), other slightly cheaper models just don’t cut the mustard with silence.

10/10
