Scythe’s Yasya is a high-end tower cooler, based on the newly developed TMLF (Trident Multi Layer Fin) structure.

Scythe’s Yasya is a high-end tower cooler is based on the newly developed TMLF (Trident Multi Layer Fin) structure. This provides a higher intake volume enabling a more efficient use of the six copper heatpipes. For ventilation a new 120 mm fan Slip Stream 120 Adjustable PWM is supplied.

Trident Multi Layer Fin Structure

By placing the number of triangle shaped main and supplemental heatsink fins in this arrangement maximises air intake volume and heat absorption from the built-in heatpipes. This makes it ideal for extreme over-clocking purposes as well as to cool the high-end multi core CPU!

Slip Stream 120 mm PWM Adjustable

The Yasya is supplied with the Scythe Slip Stream PWM 120mm PWM Adjustable fan. This allows the user to choose the fully automatic PWM feature fan speed control or alternatively adjust the PWM band range to fulfil demands from silent to high performance users!

Installation and Compatibility

The Yasya is compatible with most desktop CPUs. Intel sockets LGA1366, LGA1155/6, LGA775 along with AMD’s AM2, AM3, 939 and 754 are all supported, with the mounting of the cooler being straightforward.     The Scythe Yasya is for quiet-PC overclockers. You want the speed, and you want the silence, but you don’t want to get watercooling, which is another ballpark entirely. With an easy install, good build quality and decent performance with silence, we’d easily recommend this heatsink to users who fall within its target market.

    In a nutshell, the Yasya Heatsink offers performance that is comparable to the similarly proportioned Prolimatech Megahalem. While the two products are priced almost identically, Prolimatech do not bundle a fan with the Megahalem and so your overall expense could be as much as £20 higher than the Scythe after you get round to buying one.

Fitting design

In a tower pc the weight of the fan and cooling fin block is supported by only four plastic push-fit pins that expand; then you turn them to lock. However, with the leverage from the weight of the cooler and the fact it weighs just under two pounds, I found the pins were pulled out and the cooler fell off. Messy and potentially very troublesome if it happened when the case is closed. It would be warmer then of course if switched on and the heat would soften the plastic pins making them more likely to pull out. I checked my motherboard holes and they are not overlarge and the same diameter as several others I have. I think this is a design fault and not thought through enough. Fortunately I have a Mugen I was able to use instead, this having of course four screw fixings and and a strong large backplate.
