Asus' Arctic Square is a compact CPU cooler that boasts many features. It is compatible with the vast majority of CPU sockets. Even Intel's latest quad core CPUs can be adequately cooled by this CPU cooler.

Sandwiched between two sets of aluminium fins lies the 92mm blue LED fan. The fan is a PWM fan and therefore it can adjust its speed depending on the temperature of the CPU when connected to a 4-pin PWM socket on the motherboard. From a noise point of view the fan produces a noise level from 19 dB(A). During our evaluation the fan never exceeded 1600RPM while the CPU temperature reached 41°C, therefore it remained quiet. Due to the nature of a PWM fan, if the temperature was to rise then the fan speed would increase, which in turn would cause the noise levels to increase. But as things cool down the fan speed will fall, as will the noise levels.

The stack of aluminium fins are connected to the base of the heatsink by four 6mm U-shaped heatpipes. These heatpipes quickly transfer the heat away from the base of the cooler up into the fins where the fan cools everything down.
